Sugar stacks has some interesting visuals on how much sugar you are consuming. Quite a lot. Cubes of sugar are 4 g each. Someone has compiled several of the comparisons into one picture.
Not that I oppose sugar any more than other forms of carbohydrate. But as many of us get more carbohydrate than we burn up, it may be prudent to decrease empty calories: soda, cordial, and fruit juice.

If only everyone's carbohydrate policy were non-discrimatory. I have a dream... ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt isn't non-discriminatory, it is a refusal to see sugar as evil. Low GI is to be preferred over high GI for its satiating effects, especially if you carry a little more adipose tissue than optimal. If you are a rake, eat what you will.
ReplyDeleteBut in terms of high GI carbohydrates: some breakfast cereals, white bread and potatoes, and sugar are equal.
