You often hear people say "I work for myself" as if they don' rely on anyone, but how long would they last without a customer?
ReplyDeleteDalrymple was saying this in response to the claim that people do things for ulterior motives, especially that of money. "You only say such because that is the opinion of those who pay you." But as he notes we all are in the pay of someone, and all those someones have some character flaw.
